Italian luxury fashion house Prada has collaborated with American Space company Axiom Space on it's Next-Generation cost-effective multipurpose Spacesuit that will be used for NASA's Artemis III mission.
Presented for the first time during the International Astronautical Congress in Milan, Italy, the Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) spacesuit, blends creativity and engineering to provide increased flexibility, greater protection, and specialized tools to accomplish exploration needs and expand scientific opportunities.
The outer-layer design and materials work was jointly developed between Prada's design and product development team and Axiom Space engineers. Prada's in-depth knowledge and expertise on materials and production processes enabled advanced technologies and innovative sewing methods to bridge the gap between highly engineered functionality and the spacesuit outer layer, providing astronauts with an increased level of comfort while improving the materials' performance.
