Prada and UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission are joining forces to teach young people about ocean awareness.
From February to May 2020, an educational program dedicated to sustainability and circular economy will be presented in a network of secondary schools around the world. High school teachers in 10 cities around the world - Berlin, Mexico City, Johannesburg, Lisbon, London, Milan, New York, Paris, Shanghai, Venice will participate in webinars where they will learn how to develop an educational module dedicated to the theme of sustainability.
Four lessons dedicated to the theme of eco-responsibility will be taught to the students who in turn will then have to create an awareness campaign looking at the conservation of the oceans. An international jury composed of members representing Prada and UNESCO will decide the winning team who will have the chance to present their ideas during the Second United Nations Ocean Conference in Lisbon between June 2 and 6, 2020.
'The collaboration with UNESCO embraces this path and translates it into a direct channel of communication with students around the world. We are proud to see the creation of an ocean awareness project from what was initially a product innovation and sustainable materials initiative,' Lorenzo Bertello, Prada's Group Head of Marketing said in a statement.
The Prada x Unesco Ocean Sustainability Education Program follows on the release of the PRADA RE-NYLON capsule collection. The collection comprises of six iconic products made from recycled nylon ECONYL which is obtained through the recycling and purification process of plastic waste and can be recycled endlessly without losing its quality.
