Maria Grazia Chiuri To Become Dior's First Female Creative Director

Christian Dior may soon announce its new design head.

Following Raf Simons's October 2015 exit, the luxury French fashion house is set to announce Valentino's Maria Grazia Chiuri as ​creative director.

According to a report from Reuters, the announcement will formally happen following Christian Dior's couture show in early July. If the news is true, Chiuri will become the first female Creative Director of the fashion house in it's 70-year history and will follow in the footsteps of Yves Saint Laurent, John Galliano and Gianfranco Ferre.

Chiuri has worked alongside fellow Italian designer Pierpaolo Piccioli for almost 20 years, and the duo's designs for Valentino have been met with much critical acclaim. Together they have been credited with transforming Valentino into a modern couture house.

Dior has yet to issue a statement.
