Lisi Herrebrugh and Rushemy Botter have been appointed as the new creative directors of Nina Ricci.
The Belgian designer duo who recently won the Premiere Vision Grand Prize at 2018 Hyeres Festival for the menswear collection of their label Botter were announced today by Nina Ricci general manager Charlotte Tasset.
'Their universe expresses a passionate force, a sincerity and an extraordinary boldness deeply rooted in their time,' Charlotte Tasset, general manager fashion and fragrances at Nina Ricci, said in a statement.
'Mixed with the natural sweetness and poetry present in their vision, this unique creative spirit will give birth to the new Nina Ricci woman.'
'We feel very inspired by the fresh, feminine and subtle codes that make Nina Ricci such a beautiful ode to femininity. We aim to create a new spirit, a spirit of our times, effortless yet sophisticated, strong yet positive,' Herrebrugh and Botter said of their appointment.
Herrebrugh and Botter graduated in 2017 from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute and the Royal Academy in Antwerp respectively. Since then, they have participated in several junior designer competitions, including the H & M Design Award in December 2017.
The 32-year-old Rushemy and 28-year-old Lisi hail from the islands of Curacao and Dominican Republic. Together the stylistic language of their menswear collection is the result of improvisation aesthetics of the young generation of Caribbean cultures.
The decision to appoint Herrebrugh and Botter is part of Puig's (the Spanish fragrance and fashion group that owns Nina Ricci) plans to develop a new business model. A young point of view and aesthetic that is more important than years of experience or a great name.
Herrebrugh and Botter will debut their first collection for Nina Ricci during its pre-fall 2019-2020 season.
