Gucci has unveiled it's ArtLab a center of 37,000 square meters just outside Florence.
The new centre of 37,000 square meters focuses on work on innovation, sustainability and craftsmanship and will employ more than 800 people to work on product development and lab testing, with prototypes of leather goods, new materials, metal hardware and packaging.
'The unveiling of Gucci Artlab definitely represents one of the most remarkable achievements of Gucci's unprecedented journey of the last three years and one of the most significant industrial investments today in our country,' said Gucci's president and CEO Marco Bizzarri in a press release.
'It is a testament to our belief in creativity, artisanal craftsmanship, innovation and technology, and sustainability, and our bond with our territory.'
The decision to launch an ArtLab is in sync with Creative director Alessandro Michele's vision of Gucci's future. The Italian fashion house was named the most popular brand of 2017 and sales have almost doubled in the past three years. 2018 seems to be a good year too, they opened the Gucci Garden in Florence, tapped Harry Styles as their new face, collaborated with Unicef and Beyonce on clean drinking water in Burundi and announced to stop using fur.
