Iconic French fashion House Jean Paul Gaultier has announced the appointment of Dutch designer Duran Lantink as its new permanent Creative Director, after the its collaborative era.
Lantink is the first official successor to legendary French designer, who
stepped down from his brand in 2020 after an impressive 50 years in the business. He launched his eponymous label in 2019, and presented his debut runway show at Paris Fashion Week in March 2023. In 2024, he won the prestigious Karl Lagerfeld Prize at the LVMH Prize ceremony which was resented to him by British actor Robert Pattinson.
'I see in him the energy, audacity, and playful spirit through fashion that I had at the beginning of my own journey: the new 'enfant terrible' of fashion. Welcome, Duran,' Jean Paul Gaultier said in a press release.
'I consider Jean Paul Gaultier a genius and part of a generation that kicked down doors, so people like us can walk through them freely and be who we are without apology. Stepping into the role of Creative Director is a true honor. To me, Gaultier represents the ultimate house of creative spirit and savoir-faire. It's provocative, and continuously pushing boundaries. It's the brand that brings together different disciplines around fashion to create cultural movements, changing the language of clothes and how we wear them in the streets,' Lantink commented on his appointment.
Lantink will present his first ready-to-wear collection for Jean Paul Gaultier in Paris during RTW women's fashion week in September 2025. His debut Haute-Couture collection will be unveiled in January 2026.
