Dries Van Noten collaborates with Christian Lacroix at Paris Fashion Week

Dries Van Noten has teamed up with French designer Christian Lacroix for his summer collection.

The Belgian designer surprised everyone with the Spring / Summer 2020 collection which was presented during Paris Fashion Week. At the show at every guest's seat was a single red rose with a paper placard that read DVN X CLX. The collaboration not only marks Lacroix's return to the French fashion weeks but also the first time that the two designers have teamed up.

During Spring / Summer 2020 show, models were sent onto the catwalk in silhouettes in various shades of gold and fuchsia, with the use of the animal and baroque prints particularly striking. The exuberant colors and screaming prints notably used by Van Noten were also present this time. The shared love for opulence between the two designers became apparent during the presentation.

Lacroix who opened his eponymous salon de haute couture in Paris 1987 gained recognition for his 'pouf' skirts and exuberant color palette. In 2009 his couture house closed and he offloaded his trademark and moniker to the Florida-based Falic Group, which produces Lacroix-branded home goods, gifts and accessories. On the other hand, Van Noten sold a majority stake in his label in 2018 to Spanish luxury group Puig. In recent years Lacroix has been working as a costume designer in theatre and also freelances. Collaborations such as the one with Van Noten is indeed a rare treat.
