David Beckham To Launch His Lifestyle Brand
David Beckham is set to follow in his wife Victoria’s footsteps and launch his own fashion line. The former England captain is reported to have signed a new deal with a clothing brands company.
According to reports in Womens Wear Daily (WWD), Beckham, with his business partner, Simon Fuller, has signed a deal with Global Brands, a Hong Kong-based consumer brands supplier which also distributes Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger.
“This is a joint venture that will build brands and licence brands all around the world not just with David Beckham but other incredibly iconic stars,” chief executive Bruce Rockowitz said at a press conference.
Beckham said: “This is a partnership that is very exciting for me. Throughout my career I’ve had quite a few sponsorship deals but this takes it to a different level, a different area. I’ve gone from being in a sponsorship deal to now becoming an owner. It’s an area I’m really excited about.”
This isn't the first time Beckham has toyed with the fashion industry. Over the past couple of years the football star has embarked on collaborations include H&M, Adidas, Belstaff and his bestselling fragrance partnership with Coty Inc. The deal with Global Brands is an equal partnership – Global Brands Group holds one half while Beckham and manager Simon Fuller hold the other.
