Each week, we take the time to highlight our favorite Fashion brands. Last week, we profiled French ethical footwear and accessories brand Veja and this week we've decided to feature Misha Nonoo.
The eponymous British brand started off as a jacket and coat only line when Misha saw there was a niche in the market for jackets and coats that had a beautiful fit, structure, and European quality fabrics with an advanced contemporary price point. The overwhelming response led to the initial line branching into what it is today.
Born in Bahrain, Misha graduated from a business school in Paris and later apprenticed at a small atelier working her way through established American designers. In 2013 she was a finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and received a rising star award from Fashion Group International. She was also named one of Forbes' 30 under 30 in 2015.
In 2016 she became the first designer to use social media as a venue for fashion shows, exclusively debuting her Spring/Summer 2016 collection on Instagram and Fall 2016 collection on Snapchat. Misha's best-selling 'Easy 8' collection consists of eight key pieces that come together to create 22 different looks that empowers multifaceted professional women who are always on the go.
Misha Nonoo has been at the cutting edge of the industry and was also an early adopter of the direct-to-consumer model, thus creating increased transparency, lowered pricing, and more meaningful relationships with its customers. Today her pieces range from $140 to $750. The brand's innovative on-demand production also allows for personalization and promotes sustainability by reducing waste.
