Publishing house Blu Inc Media has acquired the entire rights, title and interest in Jelita magazine from Berita Publishing. First released in August 1976, Jelita caters to modern Malay women, focusing on topics such as fashion, health, beauty and career. Blu Inc has aggressive plans to re-launch Jelita in January 2016 which include a dynamic marketing campaign. The re-launch plan will also see a re-introduction of the brand to new media through its social media assets. With the revamp, Jelita will emerge with a modern design while continuing to meet the growing needs of its readers. The new Jelita is set to build on its strengths in fashion, beauty; keeping readers up to date, offering practical solutions. The refreshed magazine will also boost more Islamic fashion and trends. Anida Salwani, currently features editor of Cosmopolitan will be appointed as deputy editor of Jelita reporting directly to Izza Safinaz, managing editor for Cosmopolitan, EH and Jelita. Anida has 13 years of experience in the publishing industry. She was previously at Berita Harian prior to joining Cosmopolitan as features writer. She was promoted to features editor in 2009. With a circulation of 30,000 copies per month, the latest addition to Blu Inc will see the group further strengthen its position as the leading publisher in Malaysia. Though there are no immediate plans to audit the title, Blu Inc Media is keen on reader insights and is currently conducting focus group discussions, a spokesperson told A+M. Datin Azliza Ahmad Tajuddin, chief executive officer of Blu Inc Media said: “We are confident that Jelita will continue to serve its readers by ensuring strong reader value and the re-launch will also facilitate our plans to develop new growth areas and meet the advertiser’s needs across multiple platforms.”

“The acquisition will give us a strong hold in the Bahasa Malaysia readership market and complement our existing offerings focusing on women’s lifestyle interests,” Azliza added.
