Welcome to FAUX, the world of fast fashion, where the clothes you buy are out of style before they’ve even been sold. This satirical magazine explores the blurred boundaries between the reality and the ridiculousness of fast fashion. FAUX uses the same advertising and marketing approach we are exposed to every day, to highlight the silly side of fast fashion at a time when fast fashion is in its element – Black Friday. FAUX is part of the Bright Friday campaign – your alternative to Black Friday. Our research has found that 2 in 3 people say they don’t enjoy Black Friday and nearly half of us have spent money we can’t afford on sale items, 70% of which we’ve never used. Looking at clothing specifically – in the UK 1/3 of the clothes in a typical wardrobe haven’t been worn in the past year. We hope FAUX and Bright Friday help people question the pressure from media to buy, buy, buy and instead encourage people to revamp their wardrobes by swapping, up-cycling and restyling clothes.
