Corinna Drengk - model of the month - September

German fashion model Corinna Drengk never gave much thought to becoming a model until she got discovered when she was 18. With her charming blue eyes and having the luck of being born in Germany's modeling central Hamburg, she signed a representation deal with top international modeling agency, Model Management.
Premiering for designers such as Moschino and international brands like Zara, this strikingly beautiful young woman has also scored her first magazine covers and for now Corinna is on her best way to become a world-class fashion model.
Consequently, we decided to interview her to find out more about our model of the month for September...


How did you get started in the modeling business?
Corinna: I have been discovered in Hamburg when I was 18 years old. I was just about to finish my education as a dancing and gymnastic teacher when I got asked if I could imagine being a model.

Did you ever think you'd be doing this?
Corinna: No, I never expected or even thought of being involved into the modelling business. I simply couldn’t imagine being one of these beautiful girls in one of the magazines. At the time I saw myself as a ballet dancer on stage.

What do you like most about modeling? What do you like least?
Corinna: I really love the variety of different people that are in the industry – there are so many interesting and inspiring people out there. Languages I pick up quickly and when travelling to foreign countries I always try to listen to them and give it a try as well.
On the other hand there are times when I feel a little bit lonely when being away for a couple of weeks. During those moments I wish I could share my impressions.

Have you encountered any surprises along the way?
Corinna: I have to adjust to new situations on a daily basis and really had to learn to be as flexible as possible. So surprises – no matter if good or bad ones – I am open to and am absolutely not afraid of.

What has been your most awkward moment (of your modelling career)?
Corinna: When people started telling me how beautiful I am. I always thought that I was just a very normal and natural girl. That other people actually thought that I look special and beautiful was, and still is, sometimes a bit awkward and I still always blush.

Have you developed any new interests since you started modelling?
Corinna: When I moved to New York I got inspired by art and art galleries but this whole city in general is inspiring itself. I started to paint and I love to visit museums and to see new artists.

What are your favourite things to do in your free time?
Corinna: I love to go and see plays, discover new artists and galleries. But I also love to go to the gym and do yoga.

Out of all the places your career has taken you, where was the most memorable?
Corinna: It is definitely New York. For me it is the most spectacular, energetic and inspiring place that I have ever been to.

Do you have a mentor? Who? What is it about them that affects you? Why?
Corinna: I don’t really have a mentor but I have a few amazing people in my life who have taught me a lot on my way and who are always by my side.

Where do you see yourself in ten years? What could be your next career?
Corinna: It is important to me to concentrate on the “here & now” and I did not even make future plans yet. But I will surely stay in a creative surrounding.

What are your best beauty secrets? How do you stay in shape?
Corinna: I always stay in the touch with the people I love the most. This keeps me happy and satisfied and seems to influence my looks. Generally I live a pretty solid life with a lot of sleep, lots of water and different kinds of sports every day.

What would you want people to know about you?
Corinna: I try to be very reliable and people can always count on me. I am quite disciplined and I guess that I have a good sense of humour.

Any advice for new models? What advice would you give other models starting out?
Corinna: Be yourself, be focussed and it is always good to have people in your life that you can trust and count on.

I'd like to meet:
Corinna: Definitely with Woody Allen!

If I were trapped on an island I'd take:
Corinna: My family, my boyfriend and some friends, a barbeque grill and some good music.
