Tasha De Vasconcelos - model of the month - April

The world's top fashion photographer immortalised supermodel and actress Tasha de Vasconcelos on the covers of international magazines and in campaigns that would be seen the world over: Calvin Klein, Balenciaga, and Dolce & Gabbana; most recently she became the international face of Nivea. Tasha's modelling career began when she was spotted in Canada and a highly successful career as an international model was established with New York photographer Steven Meisel shooting Tasha for her first Vogue cover. Her uncommon personality also opened the doors of cinema to her, and she appeared in “Johnny English” alongside the hilarious Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean), in “Riches, Belles, etc.”, and on television in the adaptation of “Murder on the Orient Express”. Tasha's other great passion is helping underprivileged children, supporting charities such as the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund and her own AMOR project...


How did you get started in the modeling business?
Tasha: An agent scouted me.

Did you ever think you'd be doing this?
Tasha: No but other people always did!

What do you like most about modeling?
Tasha: It is always a new adventure.

What do you like least?
Tasha: Hotel rooms...

Have you encountered any surprises along the way?
Tasha: Oh yes! Every day is a surprise.

What has been your most awkward moment (of your modelling career)?
Tasha: Missing a plane to an important job because of a visa problem.

Have you developed any new interests since you started modelling?
Tasha: Playing polo & humanitarian projects.

What are your favourite things to do in your free time?
Tasha: Art, travel and my AMOR project.

Out of all the places your career has taken you, where was the most memorable?
Tasha: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe and the Taj Mahal.

Do you have a mentor?
Tasha: Yes a few.

Who?
Tasha: That is a top secret information ;)

What is it about them that affects you?
Tasha: They always tell me the truth and keep me grounded.

Why?
Tasha: They inspire me always to do the best and because it is very important to be well surrounded.

Where do you see yourself in ten years? What could be your next career?
Tasha: Continuing on the same path as this is my road and following my dreams and making them happen.

Tasha: It continues.....

What are your best beauty secrets?
Tasha: A facial with Joelle Sciocco! “Midnight Secret” by Guerlain but especially be happy!

How do you stay in shape?
Tasha: Swimming.

What would you want people to know about you?
Tasha: Cheek and charm and that I can be counted on.

Any advice for new models?
Tasha: It’s tough to persevere.

What advice would you give other models starting out?
Tasha: Always believe in yourself.
