Born in London, England, on January 27, 1987, Lily may have been destined to become a model from the outset -- her father, Matthew, is a professional photographer. Lily grew up in London always posing for the camera, and though she never really planned on being a model, her upbringing jolted her eventual career.
Lily’s modeling career began unexpectedly when she was 13. While shopping with her parents in Camden Town, England, scouts from Select Model Agency immediately noticed her beauty and signed her to a contract.
Lily’s success was almost immediate as she began appearing in campaigns for some of the biggest designers in the world. To date, she has modeled for Dior, Jil Sander, Burberry, and Dolce & Gabbana.
In 2005, Lily’s modeling career reached a new zenith as she was nominated for Best Model at the British Fashion Awards. Though she lost out to Karen Elson, the award marked a milestone for Lily: It solidified her status as one of the world’s top models. She has since been called one of the most coveted models in the world, and is actually recognized as one of the favorite models of Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz.
In 2007, Vogue featured Lily (along with a slew of other models, like Doutzen Kroes, Caroline Trentini, Raquel Zimmermann, Sasha Pivovarova, Agyness Deyn, Coco Rocha, Hilary Rhoda, Chanel Iman, and Jessica Stam) on the cover of its May issue, proclaiming the women as today's newest crop of supermodels.
