about
Who would have thought that the man who founded Vilebrequin swimwear started his company by cutting up a red and white checked tablecloth into a pair of swimtrunks. But on that day in Saint-Tropez in 1970 Vilebrequin swim shorts were born. He was satisfied with the cut but not the fabric, so Vilebrequin began testing other materials, and specifically a super fast drying spinnaker canvas that changed the face of mens swimwear. In the begining Vilebrequin's swim shorts were only sold in Saint-Tropez, but a dedicated celebrity following help to bring Vilebrequin to the international for-front of men's swimwear. The first store opened in 1996 and the short's design was an immediate hit and embraced by the celebrities and beautiful people who paraded around Saint-Tropez in their exciting new attire.
Today the Vilebrequin collection is a lot more extenisve selling shorts and trunks in hundreds of different styles, long, classic and short, ranging from elastic waistbands to those with more stylized cuts featuring a flat waistband and lace-up or grommet fastenings. Each year, Vilebrequin issue a new set of prints, and the trunks attract a following similar to the prints of Herms ties. Vilebrequin was also the creator of the company's marketing concept, "Like Father - Like Son," as a miniature version of daddy's bathing trunks is available in all sizes, starting at 6 months, and available in a large selection of the prints.
Still sold in the original store in Saint-Tropez, the creative offerings of this legendary swimwear manufacturer are now available in all the major capitals of the world as well as the most prestigious sea and lakeside resorts.
