Rodarte is a brand of clothing and accessories founded by Kate and Laura Mulleavy in Pasadena, California in 2005.
The first Rodarte collection, comprised of 10 hand-finished pieces, appears on the February 3rd, 2005 cover of Women’s Wear Daily within days of kate and Laura’s first trip to New York. Shortly therafter, Rodarte presents its first complete runway collection to accolades during New York Fashion Week.
Rodarte is now stocked globally by more than 40 of the world’s premiere retailers including Barney, Neiman Marcus, Begdorf Goodman, Beams, Harvey Nichols, Colette, Ikram, Nordstrom, Jeffrey, Dover Street market, Joyce, Podium, and 10 Corso Como.
Rodarte is in the permanent collection of both the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Fashion institute of Technology Museum in New York.
A limited edition Rodarte for Target line as a part of GO International was released in stores and online December 20, 2009. Tavi Gevinson, 13-year-old style blogger, is the spokesperson for this new line.
