Precis is one of four unique brands owned by Jacques Vert Plc.

Exclusively designed to enhance the 5ft 3” and under figure, collections have been carefully constructed to create a perfectly proportioned wardrobe for the modern woman. Precis was the first brand to have the unique idea of designing a range of garments that are not simply ‘scaled down’ versions of other styles, but made on their own blocks and to their own patterns. Specialists in tailoring, the brand’s hallmarks are clean, uncluttered lines and confident shapes. Beautifully inspired designs lead to feminine silhouettes, and combined with discreet detailing using the highest quality fabrics and craftsmanship, the garments give a sharp, contemporary look in sizes 6-18.

Alongside with other three labels from one of the leading British Fashion Houses - Jacques Vert Plc - Precis trades via its website and from over 1000 High Street outlets in the UK, mostly as concessions within leading department stores, but also as a number of stand alones, in expanding number of stores in the Republic of Ireland and over thirty stores in Canada.

history

In 1972, Jack Cynamon and Alan Green, two tailors from the East End of London, started in business together making clothes. Their skills and strength in clothing design and production resulted in a series of successful womenswear collections. In 1977 they created a range of co-ordinated fashion for the discerning woman. Combining their names and adding a French twist, the Jacques Vert brand was born and shortly afterwards became a public company.

The company, expanded into a multi-branded fashion-retailing group in December 2002 with the acquisition of William Baird Plc, which added three further womenswear labels – Planet, Precis and Windsmoor, plus a large garment manufacturer in Sri Lanka.
