about
Spanish fashion label Muchacha was created by Barcelona-based Círculo de Punto in 1989. Since then its design team, led by Mercè Prat, has interpreted seasonal fashions in its own inimitable style, awash with colour, original prints and embroidery and clever fabric combinations.
Muchacha designs for young, independent women with an active lifestyle who want to stay fashionably feminine without forgoing comfort. It specialises in knitwear, using not only wool but also leather and tricot.
It makes two collections a year of about 200 garments each, which it co-ordinates with a wide range of meticulous accessories, including scarves, bags, belts shoes and swimwear.
Muchacha clothing is mainly sold by multi-brand retailers and sales corners. In Spain, it is available in Madrid, Bilbao, Barcelona, Seville and Valencia. Abroad, it has three own shops in Toulouse (France), Shanghai (China) and a sales corner in the Rustan´s department store in the Philippines. It also exports to Belgium, Britain, Canada, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Scandinavia, Switzerland and the USA. Together, they distribute 300,000 garments a year, bringing in profits worth €8 mill.
The Muchacha collection each season aims to reflect the complex personality of the modern Mediterranean woman, with garments designed to complement her active, urban lifestyle. Following the latest fashion tendencies, Muchacha employs a wide use of colour, original prints and embroideries, and a characteristic use of textile combinations.
