Established in 1950 by Hasan Cansız, Kom Tekstil ve Konfeksiyon Sanayi A.Ş. commenced its production venture in a small-scale workshop in Galatasaray, only with underwear manufacturing. Later, in 1963, Kom moved to its factory building in Bomonti, ŞiŞli, and then made investments in its machinery park to enable itself to produce its own fabrics and laceworks. In the meantime, Kom executed an additional licence agreement with "Manhattan International" and started manufacturing of shirts for men.
After executing in 1971 a licence agreement with "Hollywood Vassarette", a US underwear supplier, Kom has broadened with respect to know-how as well as production volume.
In 1978, Kom quitted manufacturing of shirts for men and, under a special contract, commenced producing collections of an Italian and French swimsuit company for Turkish market. Thus, Kom became the first and biggest corporation operating in the field of spiffy and trendy swimsuits.
Kom's growth has continued in the '80s. Noteworthy investments were made in dying, finishing, and imprinting technology and PISA TEKSTIL VE BOYA FABRIKALARI A.Ş. was established to conduct business in these fields. In 1998, PARMA TEKSTIL VE SANAYI A.Ş., a fabrics marketing company, emerged under the umbrella of Kom.
Today, Kom has an annual production capacity of approximately 1 million pieces of swimsuit for men, women and children as well as 2.5 to 3 million pieces of underwear in its integrated facilities, where PISA and PARMA are also operating, in a covered area of 25.000 m2, which is located in Yenibosna, Istanbul, in which all operations from yarn processing to final product are performed. Importing countries include, but not limited to, USA, Denmark, Germany, United Kingdom, Russia, Israel, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece, Spain, Belgium, Chile, Canada, Egypt, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates.
