Beyond the brand, JACOB is a name. In the 1960�s, the man behind the name opened a family-run apparel store in a small Quebec town. A relentless worker, Jacob Basmaji quickly carved out an enviable position for himself within the community and instilled a passion for the trade and the drive for success in his son Joey.

Envisioning a new future for the store, Joey Basmaji followed his infallible flair and his love of fashion and took the reins of the family business in 1977. Soon after, the entrepreneur met his future wife and muse, Odette. Together they dreamed big and opened store after store.

In 1985 the first JACOB store to open in Toronto marks the beginning of a cross Canada expansion.

Joey and Odette continue to infuse their unique and enduring style into a brand that has become synonymous with quality, careful attention to detail and superior customer service. Over the years, they have surrounded themselves with a team of passionate individuals inspired by a common vision.

In 1986 JACOB Junior was created. Despite its popularity, this product line for girls aged 7 to 14 ended its activities in 2007, in order for the company to concentrate its efforts on the woman's apparel market.

Located in Montreal, Quebec, the privately owned company�s Head Office is the birthplace of all JACOB creations. Today, JACOB has over 130 stores and 2 000 employees across Canada. As the original brand ambassadors, JACOB employees demonstrate passion and creative energy on a daily basis, allowing them to fulfill their promise to create smart fashion with timeless sensibilities.
