About

Gran Sasso, an iconic representation of Italian fashion on the international stage, had humble beginnings as a small family business. Established in 1952 in Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata, a modest village south of the border between Marche and Abruzzo, the company was born out of the entrepreneurial spirit of four brothers - Nello, Eraldo, Alceo, and Francesco Di Stefano.

The Di Stefano brothers held a passion for knitwear, devoting their energy to crafting these items with elegance and quality that elevated them to a fashion phenomenon. Their success led to the gaining of increasingly prestigious market positions. The 1970s marked a turning point for Gran Sasso as it transitioned from a family business to an industrial enterprise, cementing its position in the national and international markets and facilitating the creation of a strong, unified brand image.

Fast forward to 2002, Gran Sasso embarked on the design and construction of a new complex sprawling over 36,000 sqm. This space consolidated the production facilities, warehouse, administration, showroom, and cafeteria into one comprehensive unit. The building was designed to accommodate over 400 employees and a fully upgraded machinery park, reflecting a commitment to the quality of the working spaces and their integration with the surrounding context.

The turn of the millennium proved pivotal for the company's development. In addition to the new facility in S. Egidio alla Vibrata, Gran Sasso inaugurated a new factory in Roseto degli Abruzzi in 2005. This factory, housed in a restored furnace formerly used for handmade brick production, specialized in weaving on Cotton looms.

Today, Gran Sasso stands as a major player in the production and marketing of knitwear and casual clothing. The high quality of the products is assured by a significant manual component that characterizes every stage of the production chain: each product is handmade, utilizing high craftsmanship techniques, resulting in a unique and recognizable item. The third generation of the family has now also joined the company, continuing to uphold the balanced mix of tradition and modernity that has always distinguished the brand. Furthermore, Gran Sasso operates an industrial dyeing plant and showcases its products in a showroom on Via Montenapoleone in Milan, one of Italy's most fashionable locations.
