Established in 1994, Gang was the realization of a dream by founder Roberto Chini to create his own fashion brand. An Italian native, Chini had previously worked for many years as an importer in the fashion industry. The birth of Gang was, in many ways, an ignition of the designer's passion, with a focus on creating perfectly fitting women's trousers that felt tailor-made. The fabric used in Gang's fashion pieces is denim, which, contrary to popular belief, has its origins in Genoa, Italy, not the United States. This robust cotton fabric was a staple in Chini's homeland and naturally became the primary material for Gang's designs.
In its early years, Gang demonstrated resilience and a strong growth trajectory that continues today, with the brand moving half a million pieces annually in the fashion market. The company's success has remained steady despite global crises, such as the pandemic, with growth and increased sales even during these challenging times. This consistent success and expansion required Gang to find a larger, contemporary, and ecologically sustainable home base. The chosen location was Kolbermoor, where the roots of the Gang family are firmly planted and from where the company's operations are steered.
In 2017, a new chapter began for Gang as the company embarked on the construction of a new, completely carbon-neutral corporate building. Architects from Schleburg Generalplanung, project manager Georg Zanetti, and Roberto Chini himself worked together to design a remarkably innovative building. The new headquarters embodies the company's corporate identity and combines Italian interior design with German architectural craftsmanship. Inspired by the Gang logo, the building's shape and facade reflect the positive attributes of the company's inner workings. Additionally, the building boasts impressive eco-friendly features, including a ground-source heat pump system for heating and cooling, a photovoltaic system, and the use of green electricity. These features make Gang's new headquarters a completely CO2-neutral building, underlining the company's commitment to sustainability and a healthy future for the business.
