About

Fioroni is a renowned cashmere brand located on the shores of Lake Trasimeno in the heart of Umbria, Italy. The company's roots are deeply intertwined with the traditions of the region, where weaving has been an artisanal practice since the Middle Ages. The finest cashmere from China, Mongolia, Afghanistan, and Indian Kashmir finds its way to Fioroni, echoing a history that dates back to the 19th century when English traders from the East India Company first introduced this precious yarn to Europe. Since 1978, Fioroni has been operating in harmony with these age-old practices, drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of its surroundings, benefiting from the unique properties of the Lake's water, and respecting the ecosystem with a profound ethical sense.

Founded in 1978, Fioroni began as a small artisanal workshop specializing in cashmere processing, equipped with a single sewing machine and artisan. Over the decades, under the founding Fioroni family's guidance, the company grew, emphasizing excellent craftsmanship, the selection of the best natural yarns, and innovative research in combining yarns and exclusive colors. In 2015, Fioroni was acquired by the prestigious Cesare Attolini Napoli tailoring firm, marking a new phase of company restructuring and expansion. Under the Attolini family's leadership, Fioroni has strengthened its roots while preserving and enhancing its precious artisanal know-how. Fioroni stands out as one of the first five Italian companies to introduce the "Italian Textile Fashion" product traceability certification system, approved by the Italian Chamber of Commerce. This system involves monthly checks on the origin of raw materials and the production process, which must be carried out entirely in-house, from the first to the last stage.

Fioroni’s commitment to perfection is reflected in its selection of raw materials. The cashmere used by Fioroni is chosen from China, Mongolia, and India, where the Hircus goats, the source of this precious raw material, are raised. The cashmere fibers are collected by combing or shearing the animals during the molting season in spring. The fibers are then sorted manually to remove the coarser hair, washed to remove dirt, grease, and other impurities, and then processed to remove vegetable matter, dandruff, and remnants of the outer layer of coarse hair. What sets Fioroni's cashmere apart is the coloring process. Even the darkest colors start from purely white raw material, reflecting the exclusive use of the best fibers and giving a unique richness and vividness to the knitwear. Besides cashmere, Fioroni also uses exclusive superfine wool from New Zealand, spun by the best Italian and Scottish spinners.

Fioroni's production process is a testament to authentic manual workmanship. Guided by wisdom, passion, and attention to every minor detail, thirty artisans breathe life into high-quality knitwear assembled and finished entirely by hand. Each piece must pass through various quality control stages. This is how a Fioroni garment is born, showcasing the harmonious fusion of traditional artisanal skills and innovative techniques.
