about
Spanish label El Naturalista was created in 2001 in the traditional footwear-producing region of La Rioja. With a global vocation from the outset, it now exports more than 45% of its output.
The name “The Naturalist” comes from the philosophy the brand seeks to follow in its designs: placing nature at the heart of everything capable of bringing happiness. This outlook translates into top-end footwear collections aimed at an adventurous young consumer who enjoys a healthy, outdoor life. The popular frog logo alludes to the earth made fertile by the rain and a love of simple pleasures. It has the connotations of adaptability, non-conformism and dynamism which El Naturalista seeks to convey in all its shoes.
El Naturalista uses innovative fabrics and techniques in its search for foot comfort. Stream leather, tanned with plants and ground tree bark, is a regular feature of its creations, as is its granulated ‘pull grain’ leather produced by a high-charge centrifuge process. Ergonomic rubber, breathable and anatomic insoles, an elaborate anti-shock system, recycled rubber soles, comfort lasts and reflexology are other regular features used by El Naturalista in its never-ending research endeavours and its commitment to comfort.
The USA is the label’s chief export market, followed by Germany. El Naturalista is available from 85 multi-brand shops all over the country, as well as from fashion boutiques. It sells to more than 30 countries, particularly in Europe and is a regular at international trade fairs like WSA (Las Vegas), CPH Vision (Copenhagen), GDS (Düsseldorf), Modacalzado (Madrid) and Bread & Butter (Barcelona).
