Dr. Hauschka, a brand under the umbrella of WALA Heilmittel GmbH, has been a pioneer in the realm of natural preparations since its inception in 1935. The company's roots lay in a time when awareness for natural products was not as prevalent as it is today. Despite that, Dr. Rudolf Hauschka's process of creating natural medicines without preservative alcohol was enthusiastically embraced, particularly by anthroposophical doctors. This led to the establishment of WALA in Ludwigsburg, followed by branches in Vienna and London. After facing prohibitions and incarcerations during the National Socialist period, the company finally found its home in Bad Boll/Eckwälden, where it has remained since 1950.
The idea of a cosmetic line as a complementary extension to the medicinal range had been in the mind of Rudolf Hauschka for a long time. His vision took shape when he met Elisabeth Sigmund, a Viennese woman who had been ordering preparations from WALA for her self-developed cosmetic products. Sigmund, a cosmetologist living in Stockholm at the time, collaborated with the medicinal experts at WALA to develop formulas for skincare. Together, they found solutions for cream bases that were stable without chemically synthetic emulsifiers and created fragrance blends with natural essential oils. The first Dr. Hauschka products were launched in 1967, and by 1971, Elisabeth Sigmund had trained the first Dr. Hauschka natural cosmetologist.
Thus, Dr. Hauschka today stands as a testament to its founding principles - a blend of nature, science, and a pioneering spirit. Its rich history and commitment to natural preparations make it a unique player in the cosmetic and skincare industry.
