In 2001, De Beers entered into a retail joint venture with French luxury goods company Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH) to establish an independently managed De Beers diamond jewellery company. De Beers Diamond Jewellers Ltd. is an independently managed, 50:50 joint venture between the De Beers Group and LVMH (Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton).
The joint venture, called De Beers Diamond Jewellers Ltd sells diamond jewellery exclusively in De Beers stores around the world. The first De Beers boutique opened in 2002 on London's Old Bond Street as the brand's flagship store.
A year later, the brand expanded to Asia with the opening of their first Tokyo stores.
The brand expanded into the United States with a store on 5th Avenue in New York and Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills in 2005. Neil Lane launches an exclusive jewelry collection that is sold only at De Beers retail stores.
De Beers further expanded in the United States in 2007 with stores in Las Vegas, Houston, and Washington, DC. A new website with e-commerce capability is launched. Stephen Webster launches the first men’s collection for De Beers. The Talisman 8 Watch collection is also launched.
De Beers opens 5 additional stores in 2008 in the United States - Dallas, San Francisco, Costa Mesa, Naples and Bal Harbour.
