Creed is a house of authenticity and luxury, dedicated to the creation of highly original fragrances crafted from exquisite ingredients. With a history dating back to 1760, the brand's legend began when a new London tailoring company, founded by James Henry Creed, delivered a pair of scented leather gloves to King George III. For more than 260 years, Creed has been creating fragrances for those with discerning tastes.
The brand's reputation grew under royal patronage. Queen Victoria, George III’s granddaughter, appointed Creed as an official supplier to the Royal Household. Later, in 1854, under the auspices of Napoleon III and his Empress, Eugénie, Creed set up another headquarters in Paris, France. This move further cemented the brand's status, as it began to serve most of the royalty of the time. Known for its impeccable tailoring and the exclusivity of its rare, bespoke fragrances, Creed quickly became a legend among royal, aristocratic, and socially prominent clientele.
Throughout the centuries, the Creed family has produced over 200 perfumes, each a testament to a unique creative spirit passed down through seven generations. This legacy of unrivaled scents highlights the brand's commitment to innovation and excellence.
Today, Olivier Creed, a direct descendant of James Henry Creed, carries on this illustrious tradition. Alongside his son, Erwin, Olivier undertakes extensive travels to source, research, inspect, and commission the finest materials. The Creed laboratory boasts treasures such as Bulgarian, Turkish, and Moroccan rose; Italian jasmine; Florentine iris; Indian tuberose; Haitian vetiver; Bourbon vanilla; Calabrian bergamot, and Parma violets. The brand continues to be based in Paris, with a factory in Fontainebleau. Many of its essences are made in-house using traditional techniques, a practice now rare due to cost but one that sets Creed fragrances apart from modern counterparts. Every step of the process, from weighing out high-quality natural raw ingredients to mixing and macerating by hand, is labor-intensive but driven by Creed's dedication to artistry and perfection.
