Cavalera epitomizes the fusion between music and fashion. The brand was founded in 1995 in a partnership between Alberto Hiar and musician Igor Cavalera. Starting first with the obvious choice of skateboarding, hip-hop and sportswear, the label had evolved into streetwear spiced up with a lot of humor.
André Lima and Fernando Sommer, talented designers in their own right had worked with the label. Since 1998, designer Thais Losso had been the creative force behind Cavalera, launching a collection inspired by Brazilian soap operas from the 1970s and 1980s.
Before that, King Kong and banana prints were the flavor of Cavalera. With a loyal fan base, the brand has been responsible for some of the most anticipated shows of São Paulo Fashion Week. Their shows takes place at unusal places, such as Minhocao (a huge fast lane in teh middle of the city), Galeria do Rock ( a gallery tath specializes in rock culture), Tiete River, the Museum of Ipiranga and Autódromo de Inerlgos, among others.
