Burkely, a well-established name in the leather goods industry, has a rich history that dates back to 1988. It was founded as an offshoot of the parent company, Horsten Leather Fashion, which has its roots in the year 1944.
The founder of Horsten Leather Fashion, Mr. A. Horsten, laid the foundation of the company in Waalwijk, a place where, as they like to say, "the magic of leather" happens. When one of his sons, Cees Horsten, decided not to pursue school at the age of sixteen, he was encouraged by his father to join the family business. This turned out to be a sound decision as Cees Horsten is still the owner of the company, passing on his knowledge from over 50 years to his employees.
This legacy of expertise has been inherited by his son, Preben Horsten, who is the current junior boss. He, along with a vibrant team of thirteen, a couple of apprentices, and a friendly four-legged mascot named Doris, are steering Burkely towards continuous growth.
Currently, Burkely distributes more than 500,000 items per year across various countries. But the team's ambition doesn't stop here. They are always striving to expand their reach, aiming to increase their outlets in more countries and boost the sales of their bags significantly. But that, as they say, is a story yet to unfold.
