In 1982 he moved to London to pursue his dream of becoming a fashion designer and produced his first capsule collection, which was very well received.
Over the following years, he and his business partner, Debbie Lovejoy, have built up an independent brand with a loyal customer base and an established celebrity following.
Since 1995 Ben has been showing at London Fashion Week.
Ben designs a diffusion line in conjunction with Debenhams called BDL by Ben de Lisi which has become one of the largest selling ranges under their Designers at Debenhams umbrella.
In 1998 Ben and Debbie opened the first stand alone boutique at 40 Elizabeth Street in Belgravia, where the entire collection is sold in an intimate and aesthetic space. This is the hub of the business and also where Ben holds his couture and bridal appointments.
The Look
American-born de Lisi has built a reputation for designing clothes with a subtle, flattering glamour with collections that focus on eveningwear. His looks move from the easy and low-key pants with a great shirt to a modern take on seriously dressed-up.
