about
Antonio Miró was founded in Barcelona in 1986 by Ignacio Malet, Fernando Zallo and Antonio Miró. Antonio Miró had already enjoyed considerable prestige as a designer in the 70s thanks to his Groc stores, avant-garde retail outlets designed for an alternative, intellectual and innovative public looking to stand out from the crowd.
Antonio Miró has always maintained close connections with artists working in a range of fields and who have worked with him on his catalogues and fashion shows. These artists include John Malkovich, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Antonio Canales, Bigas Luna, Yanick Noah, Ketama, Mariscal and Jordi Mollá. He has also worked with photographers such as Toni Bernad, Steven Klein, David Lachapelle, Xavi Rivera, Maria Espeus, Outumuro and Vallhonrat, etc.
He has presented his collections on numerous international catwalks including Paris, Milan, Florence, Tokyo and New York. Antonio Miro shows his menswear collection in Paris and his womenswear collection in Madrid.
Today Antonio Miró designs collections for men and women, which he distributes and sells directly. He also has a second line called "Miro Jeans", result of a joint venture with Twenty (Marithe Françoise Girbaud) and several lines of accessories and complements (watches, glasses, leather goods, accessories, etc.).
The firm has several stores in Spain, in Barcelona, Madrid and Bilbao, and is also present in Japan. Its major overseas markets are Japan and the UK. The collections can be found in leading boutiques and department stores including Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Osetan, Flannels, Fidelio, Swank Shop and Barney’s.
Antonio Miró's world has always been closely associated with the Mediterranean, the city of Barcelona, art, architecture and music. His collections are always plain and simple, with a clear emphasis on quality and attention to detail.
