about
Fortaleza (state of Cear) Brazil, 1985: stylist Liana Thomaz creates gua de Coco with only a sewing machine, a seamstress, a lot of determination and a well defined objective: launching a beachwear brand of unquestionable quality. Dream achieved. Today, the respected swimwear labels place on the worldwide fashion scene is ensured.
gua de Coco by Liana Thomaz brings a wide range of bikini bathing suits, regular bathing suits, smocks, swimwraps, bags and accessories for the female public and bathing suits, bermudas and shorts for the male public. In order to complement the already sophisticated look, the brand makes available sandals and flip-flops created within the designer Liana Thomazs luxury concept. Everything to show lavishly and make evident both the female and male beauty.
The companys industrial park occupies today a 7,5 thousand square meters in the city of Fortaleza, state of Cear, Brazil. Employing more than 500 people distributed among the factory and several shops, the brand produces monthly 40 thousand articles in swimwear and fitness models, and accessories as well. Currently, gua de Coco by Liana Thomaz articles can be found in all of the Brazilian states, in more than 400 multibrand and 15 self-owned shops. Abroad, the brand is present in different countries, among which the USA, Canada, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Japan, Australia, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, the Caribbean, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Hawaii, Canary islands, Costa Rica, and South Africa.
During Spring/ Summer 2003 season (July 2002), the brazilian swimwear label made its debut on the Sao Paulo runway and received critical acclaim from the press.
Recently, stylist Liana Thomaz associated with ABEST - Associao Brasileira de Estilistas (the Brazilian stylists Association) -, whose purpose is to strengthen and promote the Brazilian design fashion industry. Since they shared the same concept, gua de Coco by Liana Thomaz decided to integrate ABEST, adding to the decision another objective: further solidifying the labels importance and recognizance inside the segment.
In 2006, the label formed a partnership with the largest lingerie and beach fashion chain in the whole world: Victorias Secret. Launched by the company, the Swim 2006 Catalog brings the Brazilian top model Adriana Lima wearing a golden gua de Coco by Liana Thomaz bathing suit, an article which stands very well for the labels glamour and refinement.
This negotiation shows the respect and recognizance conquered by the label on the worldwide fashion scene over its twenty years of life. gua de Coco by Liana Thomazs constant presence in the international printed press also shows this conquest. In recent times the brand appeared in fashion editions of large American publications such as Shape, Elle, Marie Claire, Selecta Magazine, Glamour, Sports Illustrated, Teen Vogue, Wave magazines and Harpers Bazzar in Spanish.
