Audrey Hepburn's granddaughter Emma Ferrer makes graceful debut with 'Harper's Bazaar' cover

Emma Ferrer, the granddaughter of iconic beauty Audrey Hepburn, makes a splash onto the fashion scene as Harper’s Bazaar's US cover star for the September 2014 issue. Audrey Hepburn’s most iconic photos were shot by Richard Avedon and Harpers revists that friendship in a retro styled photoshoot by Richards' son Michael Avedon.

Ferrer strikes graceful poses that echoes some of her famous grandmother's most memorable looks and serves as a nod to the legends' iconic timeless grace and sophistication.This is not only the 20-year-old's first cover, but it's her first ever magazine photo shoot. Emma says to WWD : “Initially, I wasn’t sure. Glenda [Bailey, editor in chief] contacted my father with the idea and explained that Michael Avedon would be the photographer. So understanding that there was this parallel narrative, I was able to approach it as this very meaningful experience.”



The 20-year-old is an aspiring artist and Florence Academy of Art student. Her father is Sean Ferrer, Hepburn’s son from her marriage to actor Mel Ferrer.

In an interview with the magazine Emma recalls her famous grandmother, “I remember seeing a photo of her jumping on a trampoline—I believe this was before I understood that she was famous. But I remember thinking that she looked like a friend I wish I could have had… As a child I couldn’t really relate to Audrey Hepburn, the actress. To me, she was family.” She also notes “When I watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s, I enjoyed it the same way any young girl would. I’ve seen My Fair Lady and Roman Holiday, but I suppose my favorite is Funny Face.”

Ferer says she owns a few things that belong to her grandmother. “All I can think of are her cashmere turtlenecks, which I adore and wear all throughout the winter,” she says. “And a white antique stuffed teddy bear.”



Emma is a self-possessed and gracious young woman embodying the grace and sophistication of her famous grandmother and with this graceful debut it wont be surprising to see her pursuing a career in modelling soon.
