The InWear story started in 1969, when founder Niels Martinsen launched a line of casual fashion women�s clothing that emphasized quality.

InWear already began its international expansion in the 1970s, when the first subsidiaries were established in Sweden and Norway, and the brand moved into the Belgian, Dutch, German and UK markets. The first InWear retail shop opened in 1980, and the company�s geographical expansion continued throughout the 1980s, crossing the Atlantic in 1983.

InWear became a major player on the world stage of fashion in 1996, when its shares were listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange.
